How should I pay for a delivery?

You can pay with a credit, debit or HSA card when you place your order, or we can accept cash or check upon delivery.

If I am having a prescription delivered, but have questions about it what should I do?

Please let us know when you first call if you have any questions about your medication, such as how to use it, expected side effects, or whether it will interact with other medications you are taking. You will also always receive a patient hand out with each prescription that goes over many of these questions. If you have a question after your prescription is delivered and you have read your handout, please don’t hesitate to call and ask to speak to a pharmacist.

How will I know when to expect my delivery?

Deliveries occur throughout the day Monday through Friday, generally between 12 pm and 9 pm. If you to be there in person to accept the delivery, we will discuss a time frame with you ahead of time and will make every attempt to deliver it within that time frame. If we are outside of our time frame, and you are not there to accept the delivery, we will call you to make another arrangement and you will not be charged the cost of a second delivery attempt. Weather and other unexpected factors can change our delivery schedule so we cannot make any specific guarantees regarding delivery times. Please make sure we have all your current phone numbers on file so that we can contact you if we have a significant delivery schedule change.

Is there a minimum order for free delivery?

There is no minimum order for a regular prescription to be delivered. We can also deliver over the counter items with your prescription order. We can deliver over the counter items without a prescription order, however, there will be a $5.00 charge for this type of delivery.

Is there a limit to the number of times a month I can get free delivery?

We will attempt to group your prescription orders together in a single delivery and encourage you to request all your prescriptions once per month so that we can hold down our delivery costs. If we are unable to fill part of an order, but you need a prescription right away, we will make the necessary number of deliveries to fill your needs. Likewise, if you are given a new prescription before your old ones are due, we will deliver the new prescription without delay.

What if I'm not present when a delivery is attempted?

We can deliver either to your home or work if in the metro Grand Rapids area so we can give your prescription directly to you. However, we can leave the prescription wherever you have indicated to us is a safe place if you are unable to accept it in person. Some prescription types will not be able to be left without personal contact, such as controlled substances or prescriptions which require strict temperature controls. If you have indicated to us that you will be available to accept a prescription but are not there when we arrive, we will return the prescription to the store where you can then pick it up or, at your option, pay the cost of a second delivery attempt (currently $5.00).

What does your store offer besides prescription medications?

Unlike the big chain stores, we specialize in pharmacy and medical goods almost exclusively. We feel this gives us an advantage over the big chain stores because we are focused on meeting your healthcare needs, not on selling you a bunch of “front end” merchandise that you are not looking for. We carry most everything you would expect to find in a hometown pharmacy, including over the counter medications, vitamins, and medical supply items. We specialize in diabetes care and compression stockings, with personal fittings. You can also find personal care items that you may need to grab on the go. Do you offer vaccinations?

We have two certified pharmacists on staff that can provide vaccinations. Currently we offer the Shingles (Zostavax) vaccine, Pneumovax, Hepatitis A & B, and a yearly flu vaccine. Please call ahead of time for availability. Most vaccines require a physician’s prescription with a few exceptions. Please call for more information.

What kinds of insurance do you accept?

We accept almost all types of health insurance. We are also eligible to process most HSA cards. Please call if you are wondering about a specfiic type of insurance. We also bill Medicare Part B for durable medical equipment, nebulizer medications and transplant medications.

Why should I choose you over a big chain pharmacy or mail order?

You will get personalized, efficient and comprehensive service each and every time you fill a prescription at our pharmacy. We believe that a pharmacy is a health provider, as important to your well-being as your physicians. Our knowledgeable pharmacists are here to answer your questions and take the time to get to know you and what your health needs are. We will explain your medication thoroughly with you, including when and how to take it. We will go over side effects with you and possible interactions with your other prescriptions and with over the counter medications. With your permission, we can also explain your medications to the important people in your life. We will also communicate with your other health care providers to ensure that you are getting the best results from your prescriptions.

We will in most instances have your prescription filled within 15 minutes if you are a walk-in customer, and delivered same day as received if you choose our free delivery service. We believe it is absolutely essential to have all your prescriptions filled in one location so that potentially dangerous drug interactions can be flagged within our state of the art computer system. Mail ordering medications simply does not allow for this feature, nor does it offer a caring pharmacist who will take the time to discuss all your concerns.

My insurance wants me to get my medications through mail order, but I would rather come to your store. What should I do?

Many insurance carriers can make it seem like you don’t have any other choice other than mail order. Some carriers may even “automatically” sign you up for a mail order service that you didn’t ask for! The truth is that in most cases, you do have a choice and you can tell your carrier that you want a personalized experience with your local neighborhood pharmacy. You may have to contact them to opt out of mail order, but in many cases you can just begin to fill your prescriptions with us. We can usually fill a prescription for 90 days with the same copays as a mail order facility. The best part is you don’t have to wait to start that important medication and you can be assured that it has not been left sitting in a mailbox that is too hot or too cold for proper storage.

What should I do if I think I am having an unwanted side effect from a medication?

Please call us if it is a non-emergency situation. If we are closed and you are very concerned about the side effect or feel it is an emergency, we would suggest you contact your physician’s office or their emergency on-call system. Remember, some of the side effects listed for any given drug will rarely occur but must be included in patient hand outs. Some side effects will occur more commonly but may be worth tolerating if the value of the medication outweighs the discomfort. For this reason, we recommend you speak with your pharmacist or physican before discontinuing any medication unless you are experiencing a life threatening situation.

Do you have automatic prescription refill?

Yes, we can set any of your medications up for automatic refill at your request (some insurances may not allow this option). This is a very convenient way for you to receive your maintenance medications without the hassle of having to remember to ask for them. However, you are responsible for letting us know right away if there has been a change to your prescription or if it has been discontinued. If we fill an automatic prescription for you and it physically leaves our store (including for delivery), we cannot by law accept the medication for return. We will not refund any money to you for the prescription. If your insurance carrier refuses to pay for the prescription, you will be responsible for the entire cost. Please don’t hesistate to call us if you are unsure whether we have the correct prescription for you on file.
